The 8 Deadliest Intersections in Orange County

KML-dontwalk_965954With close to 100 people dying in traffic accidents in Orange County each year, and hundreds more getting seriously hurt, it is safe to say that driving can be quite dangerous. We’ve listed the most dangerous intersections in Orange County below to help you stay safe:

17th St at Fairview Street, Santa Ana
Pedestrians and bicyclists alike are drawn to the shoppings, centers, apartment complexes and bus stops that are located near 17th St. and Fairview. This location is also the second most dangerous intersection, with 5 serious accidents having occurred here.

Chapman Avenue at Gilbert Street, Garden Grove
Just like 17th and Fairview, this intersection is heavily traveled by pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers alike. Four serious accidents have been reported here.

Bristol Street at McFadden Ave. , Santa Ana
With Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary school nearby, this intersection is filled with students, parents and shoppers. At least one of the four serious accidents reported here was due to a pedestrian crossing the crosswalk while the “Don’t Walk” sign was flashing.

Bristol Street at Campus Drive, Newport Beach
With freeway ramps nearby, its no surprise that many of the accidents reported here deal higher speeds.  Failure to yield while making a turn at the red light killed one person and hurt five others.

El Toro Road at Montcliff Drive, Lake Forest
Four serious accidents have occurred here. According to local residents, drivers frequently run the stop sign on Montcliff.

Jeffrey Road at Orange County Center Drive, Orange County
The four accidents that occurred here were attributed to everything from wrong-way driving to speeding.  None of the accidents were deadly.

Olympiad Road at Alicia Parkway, Mission Viejo
With the Alicia Parkway being one of Mission Viejo’s main path’s to the I-5 freeway, it’s no surprise that four serious accident have happened here.

Santiago Canyon Road and Jamboree Road, Orange County
This is the most deadly intersection, with eight serious accidents and five fatalities between 2008- 2012. It is known to locals as the “road of death”.
