Obama’s Budget Proposal to Adjust Social Security Benefits
Obama’s budget proposal has been looming in the distance. The White House has recently states that the proposal will alter the way the US government hands out Social Security benefits. The solutions proposed have caused controversy, with Liberal Social Security supporters not being too happy.
Fact of the matter is that as essential as Social Security is for the elderly and disables, the way it was designed is outdated…and pretty much related to an antiquates family structure (the mechanics haven’t been looked at since the ‘30s!).
Basically…this means that if you’re a long-time low-wage worker, have always been single or a divorced woman (or widow) the benefits don’t cover you. If you’re old and Medicare isn’t paying for your care needs, your benefits aren’t enough to cover additional health expenses.
So what can be done?
